Making a Splash: Cummins Pool Gets an Accessible Ramp
Variety SA has contributed $180,000 to the redevelopment of the Cummins & District War Memorial Swimming Pool, including a new entrance ramp to improve access for children with disabilities and mobility needs.
The Cummins & District War Memorial Swimming Pool has officially reopened its doors — and thanks to a $180,000 contribution from Variety SA, it's more accessible than ever before.
As part of the pool's redevelopment, Variety SA funded the installation of a gradual entrance ramp into the 25-metre pool, designed to remove physical barriers for children with disabilities, as well as for community members managing mobility or sensory challenges. The ramp provides a safe, welcoming entry point that empowers children to participate in recreational swimming and developmental activities — supporting both their physical health and emotional wellbeing.
The Cummins pool is a vital community asset, delivering swimming lessons to more than 800 students each year and serving as a hub for health, leisure and community connection across the region.
Representing Variety SA at the reopening community day were the SA Variety Bash Car 605 — The Fairy Girls. Their presence was a meaningful reminder of how the generosity of Variety's motoring entrants directly translates into projects like this one, giving fundraisers the chance to see their efforts come to life in the communities that need it most.
